ARISE Center
We examine contributors to sexual and reproductive health outcomes as noted in the social ecological model, including at the personal, interpersonal, institutional, community, and policy levels. We recognize the heterogeneity in health and wellness across the spectrum of sexual and gender identities and the critical need to address increasing inequities, polarization, and exclusionary policies that contribute to health disparities.
VISION STATEMENT: To catalyze transformational change through collaborative, innovative research and clinical scholarship at the intersections of gender, sexual identity and expression, and marginalization to promote sexual and reproductive health equity as a lived reality for all.
MISSION STATEMENT: We are dedicated to the pursuit of sexual and reproductive health justice using an interdisciplinary, social ecological approach that defies historical exclusion, harm, and discrimination of individuals and populations. Through our commitment to collaborative approaches, we prioritize intersectional, inclusive research, clinical and nonclinical training, and community engagement to build and sustain capacity to address root causes of health disparities within communities that are too often excluded and underserved.
